Home Made Oreos

Friday, December 23, 2011

I made these tonight and all I can say is yum! If it wasn't for the convenience of packaged Oreos I would never buy them again, I would just make them! I found the idea on www.pinterest.com and just had to make them. The actual recipe is for peppermint oreos, but I didn't have any peppermint extract, so I just added vanilla extract to the filling and didn't roll them in the crushed peppermint sticks. An added perk, they are super easy to make and the recipe makes a lot!! I am taking the two tins of these to the people that work at our favorite restaurant for Christmas. I hope they enjoy them!

Been a Year

Sunday, November 27, 2011

I can not believe that I haven't put anything on here in almost a year! It has been a super busy year..my hubby deployed, I have been busy with the little girls at home, trying to keep up with the mess they create in this house, doing my homework so hopefully I can finish up my degree soon, helping the big one with her homework, leading a Girl Scout troop, and volunteering at school...on top of all that trying to bake and create and work out! It's been so super crazy!! Hopefully I can do better!

Christmas Box

So I have been busy all day long baking for the box I am sending to my amazing hubby who is currently deployed. I made a couple of new things and a couple of old favorites. I made what could possibly be my new favorite cookie, a White Chip Chocolate Cookie. They are so easy and so delicious! My hubby has never had them so hopefully he will enjoy them! The other new recipe I made was Chocolate Peanut Butter Temptations...oh my goodness they are yummy, but you need something to drink near by when you eat them! I made his favorite Cinnamon Pecans so I know he will be happy to get those! I also made Thumbprint Cookies, I usually make them with a boxed cake mix, but didn't have one tonight so I changed up the recipe. My daughter tried one and said they were good, hopefully he will think so too! I might make the ones I know he likes and send those to him as well, I guess we will see. I packaged everything carefully so that it will survive it's trip around the world without and disasters! It is sad that he can't be with us during the holiday season, but it is good to know I can send a little bit of home to him!
